Watch

  1. ”It is like a man going to a far country, who left his house and gave authority to his servants, and to each his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to watch.“ Mark‬ ‭13‬:‭34‬ ‭NKJV‬‬‬‬
    1. Watch: to be attentive or vigilant b : to keep guard 3
  1. The moment a person gets saved you have changed sides
    1. It is now the responsibility of the person first of all to watch over his own life then those of his influence
    2. ”He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,“ Colossians‬ ‭1‬:‭13‬ ‭NKJV‬‬‬‬‬
    3. ”For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds,“ II Corinthians‬ ‭10‬:‭4‬ ‭NKJV‬‬‬‬‬
    4. We are in a war
      1. Between evil and good, God and the devil
  1. We have been told to keep watch!
    1. Watch out for enemies
    2. Worldly don’t understand such talk but we believers know we have entered a battle
    3. Nehemiah 4:1 (Read)
    4. ”Nevertheless we made our prayer to our God, and because of them we set a watch against them day and night.“ Nehemiah‬ ‭4‬:‭9‬ ‭NKJV‬‬‬‬‬
    5. It was their responsibility to fight and protect from the enemy
      1. ”So it was, from that time on, that half of my servants worked at construction, while the other half held the spears, the shields, the bows, and wore armor; and the leaders were behind all the house of Judah. Those who built on the wall, and those who carried burdens, loaded themselves so that with one hand they worked at construction, and with the other held a weapon. Every one of the builders had his sword girded at his side as he built. And the one who sounded the trumpet was beside me.“ Nehemiah‬ ‭4‬:‭16‬-‭18‬ ‭NKJV‬‬‬‬‬‬

    1. ”Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Mark‬ ‭14‬:‭38‬ ‭NKJV‬‬‬‬‬
  1. Called to receive messages from God and directives, also watch for the enemy.
    1. ”I will stand my watch And set myself on the rampart, And watch to see what He will say to me, And what I will answer when I am corrected.” Habakkuk‬ ‭2‬:‭1‬ ‭NKJV‬‬‬‬‬
    2. Habakkuk like you and I was called to be a watchman
      1. Habakkuk was crying out for answers why Israel’s enemy was prospering and they were not
      2. Called to wait and watch God move!
    1. “Let your waist be girded and your lamps burning; and you yourselves be like men who wait for their master, when he will return from the wedding, that when he comes and knocks they may open to him immediately. Blessed are those servants whom the master, when he comes, will find watching. Luke‬ ‭12‬:‭35‬-‭37‬ ‭NKJV‬‬‬‬‬‬
    2. We must fight for our children and watch for them!
    3. ”I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; They shall never hold their peace day or night. You who make mention of the Lord, do not keep silent, And give Him no rest till He establishes And till He makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth.“ Isaiah‬ ‭62‬:‭6‬-‭7‬ ‭NKJV
      1. ”So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one. Therefore I have poured out My indignation on them; I have consumed them with the fire of My wrath; and I have recompensed their deeds on their own heads,” says the Lord God.“ Ezekiel‬ ‭22‬:‭30‬-‭31‬ ‭NKJV‬‬‬‬‬
  1. ”Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming—in the evening, at midnight, at the crowing of the rooster, or in the morning— lest, coming suddenly, he find you sleeping. And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!” Mark‬ ‭13‬:‭35‬-‭37‬ ‭NKJV‬‬‬‬
