Tangible Anointing

  1. The power of God In The earth is real! It is released in the earth by God independent of man according to His will but also released by those who carry God’s presence and believe and exercise faith in God’s power
    1. “Then Elisha died, and they buried him. And the raiding bands from Moab invaded the land in the spring of the year. So it was, as they were burying a man, that suddenly they spied a band of raiders; and they put the man in the tomb of Elisha; and when the man was let down and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived and stood on his feet.” II Kings‬ ‭13‬:‭20‬-‭21‬ ‭NKJV ‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬
    2. In this situation absolutely no faith was necessary on the part of the receiver of the miracle. He was dead!
    1. This is God’s sovereignty to do whatever He wants
    1. Scripture said the dead man touched the bones of Elisha
    2. No doubt we know that a double portion was on Elisha. He did twice as many miracles were recorded over Elijah
    1. So God’s presence and Elisha’s fellowship with God caused God’s power to go deep within his bones
    2. It surely wasn’t Elisha’s bones that resurrected the man but God’s power within the bones
    1. This miracles show the giver of the miracle or the conduit or vessel of the miracle had something to offer
  1. Another miracle we see in the scripture of a tangible anointing is the Apostle Paul
    1. “Now God worked unusual miracles by the hands of Paul, so that even handkerchiefs or aprons were brought from his body to the sick, and the diseases left them and the evil spirits went out of them.” Acts‬ ‭19‬:‭11‬-‭12‬ ‭NKJV‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬
    2. The vessel was Paul, the anointing was transferred to a cloth by faith and brought to the sick
    3. How do we know it was by faith?
    1. Because they had action to their faith and them carrying the cloth to the sick was an act of faith
  1. The anointing or the power of God was operating through a vessel but that vessel had been accustomed to being in God’s presence
    1. “But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.” Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭11‬ ‭NKJV‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬
    2. The same Spirit is in you and on you
    3. “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts‬ ‭1‬:‭8‬ ‭NKJV‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬
    4. “And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” Mark‬ ‭16‬:‭17‬-‭18‬ ‭‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬
    5. “Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” Acts‬ ‭3‬:‭6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬
    6. Knowing you possess something
  1. We know God is still a God of miracles and we see in these instances of God’s power being transferred
    1. Will we believe for God’s power to change a situation or just leave it alone! We can make a difference
    2. “when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?” Luke‬ ‭18‬:‭8‬ ‭NKJV‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬
    3. God is wanting to display His power but we must release our faith
  1. There is only one thing more tragic than the lament that Gideon expressed after he was greeted by the angel in Judges 6. Gideon said in verse 13, “Where are all the miracles?” It is bad enough that many in the church have never seen a miracle, let alone experienced one themselves. What is even more tragic is that there are so many people who have never even had the thought to ask why. The very idea of a miracle is foreign to them.
    1. Could it be that the modern church – the people whom God has assigned to demonstrate His power and show the world His glory – has fallen short in its mission? Thousands of people walk into church buildings every week looking for God. They expect to find Him, because they see His name on the building or on the sign in front of it. But what they see instead is many of the same pathologies that they are trying to escape, or at least avoid for a brief period.
    2. We can do something to change that—and we must; souls hang in the balance. Miracles attract people to the gospel message…miracles confirm the gospel message…and, miracles validate the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ! The revenant, remnant, resurrected church of Jesus Christ must take its place to demonstrate the power and presence of our miracle-working God to this generation.
  2. Let’s today make our request to the Lord and lay them along side these prayer cloths and believe God for the tangible anointing to be upon these cloths. Then next Sunday we will receive our prayer cloths after being saturated on the platform of this house of God. We have seen God do countless miracles through this house. We will lay our hands on these cloths and pray all week for God to move. Then take these cloths to the sick, the oppressed, the lost and see God move upon them.
    1. Place it in the pillow of a lost loved one
    2. Place it in your pocket book to break the curse of poverty
    3. Hand it to someone diseased and as they hold it pray the prayer of faith over them and release the power of God.
  1. Hand out prayer cards and have them place it on altar
