I hear the Lord say “can you walk with me?” Are you able? Are you able to drink the cup that I drink?
”Then the mother of Zebedee’s sons came to Him with her sons, kneeling down and asking something from Him. And He said to her, “What do you wish?” She said to Him, “Grant that these two sons of mine may sit, one on Your right hand and the other on the left, in Your kingdom.” But Jesus answered and said, “You do not know what you ask. Are you able to drink the cup that I am about to drink, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?” They said to Him, “We are able.” So He said to them, “You will indeed drink My cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with; but to sit on My right hand and on My left is not Mine to give, but it is for those for whom it is prepared by My Father.” Matthew 20:20-23 NKJV
”They said to Him, “Grant us that we may sit, one on Your right hand and the other on Your left, in Your glory.” But Jesus said to them, “You do not know what you ask. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?” They said to Him, “We are able.” So Jesus said to them, “You will indeed drink the cup that I drink, and with the baptism I am baptized with you will be baptized;“ Mark 10:37-39 NKJV
”Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?“ Amos 3:3 NKJV
”Do two people walk hand in hand if they aren’t going to the same place? Amos 3:3 MSG
Two of the disciples misinterpreted Jesus mission! They simply could not see! Jesus mission was to testify of the Father and to surrender to Gods will through death on a cross
Are you able to drink this cup? Are you?
”Then Jesus said to them again, “I am going away, and you will seek Me, and will die in your sin. Where I go you cannot come.” So the Jews said, “Will He kill Himself, because He says, ‘Where I go you cannot come’?” And He said to them, “You are from beneath; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.” Then they said to Him, “Who are You?” And Jesus said to them, “Just what I have been saying to you from the beginning. I have many things to say and to judge concerning you, but He who sent Me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I heard from Him.” They did not understand that He spoke to them of the Father. Then Jesus said to them, “When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and that I do nothing of Myself; but as My Father taught Me, I speak these things. And He who sent Me is with Me. The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do those things that please Him.” As He spoke these words, many believed in Him.“ John 8:21-30 NKJV
”Simon Peter said to Him, “Lord, where are You going?” Jesus answered him, “Where I am going you cannot follow Me now, but you shall follow Me afterward.” Peter said to Him, “Lord, why can I not follow You now? I will lay down my life for Your sake.” Jesus answered him, “Will you lay down your life for My sake? Most assuredly, I say to you, the rooster shall not crow till you have denied Me three times.“ John 13:36-38 NKJV
Surrender is the way!
To relinquish possession or control of (something) to another because of demand or compulsion:
As believers we are called to surrender! the sooner we surrender the greater the sooner we fulfill God’s plan
Immaturity will cause inward battles to rage as one person fights within a battle with their will and God’s will
Self is your enemy
Pleasures war against God
Lusts, greed, they war against surrender
Surrender demands total abandonment of self
Time, talents, ambitions, goals, all must be led to a cross and crucified
As Christ willingly laid down His life so we too must willingly lay it down
”I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own. “Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father.” John 10:14, 17-18 NKJV
Let no man think of fighting Hells legions if he is still fighting an internal warfare.(Gods will or his own) Carnage without Will sicken him if he has carnality within. It is the man who has surrendered to the Lord, who will never surrender to his enemies. Leonard Ravenhill
Peter did not surrender and he betrayed the Lord. He grew and matured and he surrendered which led him to an upside down cross
Paul encourages the Thessalonians in his second epistle for them to not give up don’t get weary in your pursuit of complete surrender. Suffering and persecution is evidence of the righteous judgment of God and one day you and I who have endured will be counted worthy of the Kingdom
”We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is fitting, because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of every one of you all abounds toward each other, so that we ourselves boast of you among the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that you endure, which is manifest evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you also suffer;” II Thessalonians 1:3-5 NKJV
Not everybody is gonna see what you see! When you truly surrender you have seen Him and seeing Him will externally seem crazy to some and others it will bring true direction and deliverance. Faith sees and as we grow we see more.
The more we surrender the more we see
”Then Elisha said, “Hear the word of the Lord. Thus says the Lord: ‘Tomorrow about this time a seah of fine flour shall be sold for a shekel, and two seahs of barley for a shekel, at the gate of Samaria.’ ” So an officer on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God and said, “Look, if the Lord would make windows in heaven, could this thing be?” And he said, “In fact, you shall see it with your eyes, but you shall not eat of it.” II Kings 7:1-2 NKJV
One walked and could see another could not and perished
Will you surrender? Are you able? Can you drink my cup?
