Send Me!
“In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple. Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one cried to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory!” And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out, and the house was filled with smoke. So I said: “Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, The Lord of hosts.” Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal which he had taken with the tongs from the altar. And he touched my mouth with it, and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; Your iniquity is taken away, And your sin purged.” Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” Isaiah 6:1-8
Isaiah had a Vision
Vision communicated a blue print and had purpose
Isaiah saw the exalted King
He saw Seraphim with 6 Wings
He saw their reverence and humility and their desire to serve
“If the spirit of the ruler rises against you, Do not leave your post; For conciliation pacifies great offenses. Ecclesiastes 10:4 NKJV
Don’t backslide
The effect of Isaiah’s vision pricked his heart of his own personal sin!
Isaiah’s experience caused him to repent and confess and his sin was burned away
Fire is purifying
The coal was taken from the altar
Christ on the altar and then the Fire of the Holy Ghost purifies the believer
This experience caused Isaiah to be ready for service
God seeks volunteers
Christ died for our sins which should cause men to say what do you want from me?
Galatians 2:20 No longer I
Prophet then commissioned after he accepted and cried send me
But it wasn’t to do great things but actually prophecy that Israel would sink deeper into sin
To some more susceptible souls his message would be a true divine voice, rousing them like a trumpet, and that effect was what God desired; but to the greater number it would deepen their torpor and increase their condemnation. If men love darkness rather than light, the coming of the light works only judgment.
Isaiah here’s God say they will be judged and destroyed as a nation but then hope. A stump would be left and from that stump a messiah
Our response to the vision of God is obedience despite the garbage that comes with it
Jesus for the joy set before him endured the cross
Through much tribulation we enter the kingdom
“Therefore, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision, but declared first to those in Damascus and in Jerusalem, and throughout all the region of Judea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent, turn to God, and do works befitting repentance.”. Acts 26:19-20 NKJV
