The Damming Sin of the World | Pastor Chuck Salvo | 11.26.23 | Sunday AM | On Fire Christian Church
The Damning Sin of the World
There is one sin that damns a soul to an eternity without God. People actually do not go to hell for adultery, or lying or stealing or even homosexuality. Because to even continue in any of these sins is to reject Gods invitation of mercy.
Mathew Henry’s Commentary states: Making light of Christ, and of the great salvation wrought out by him, is the damning sin of the world.
Matthew 10:26-end
The world at large has gone astray and God seeks to bring a people to Himself out of this dark world
“that He would gather together in one the children of God who were scattered abroad.” John 11:52
“And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock and one shepherd.” John 10:16
Therefore the message of the gospel is geared to calling people to be a part of God Kingdom
“The people who walked in darkness Have seen a great light; Those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, Upon them a light has shined.” Isaiah 9:2 NKJV
Colossians 1:13 For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son
Parable of the Wedding Feast. Matt 22:1
Our merciful God has not only provided food, but a royal feast, for the perishing souls of his rebellious creatures.
God has invited us to a royal Feast
God spoke through his prophets and John the Baptist and even Jesus then His disciples. To prepare a bride for Himself
Sinners come not Christ not because they cannot but because they will not
The privileges and blessings that f this glorious invitation were treated as nothing. Those to whom this blessing was imposed treated it with contempt and that my friend is the damning sin.
Not understanding the depth to what we were called is a great sin.
They made light of it! Thus showing their lack in believing
When we grow familiar with church or leaders or we don’t press in like we used to
First love
Multitudes perish eternally through mere carelessness, who have not any direct aversion to, or enmity against spiritual things, but a prevailing indifference and unconcern about them.
Indifferent-Not mattering one way or the other; unimportant
the reason why they made light of the marriage-feast: they had other things to mind, in which they took more delight
And it must be granted that both farmers and tradesfolk must be diligent in business; but not so as to be thereby prevented from making religion their main business.
Barnes comments-So people are engaged so much in their worldly employment that they pretend they have no time to attend to religion. The world is, in their view, of more value than God.
One had a false contentment with their farm and the other was consumed with desiring more
No wedding garment verse 11
“Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.” And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.” Revelation 19:7-8
“I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, My soul shall be joyful in my God; For He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness, As a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments, And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.” Isaiah 61:10 NKJV
The garment was given to the one and his response to believing was his preparation. He was busy preparing because He believed
His righteous acts were simply the fruit of His believing
“For many are called, but few are chosen.” Matthew 22:14 NKJV
many hear, few believe: many are members of the visible, but few of the invisible church
Many are called to the wedding-feast, that is, to salvation, but few have the wedding-garment, the righteousness of Christ, the sanctification of the Spirit. Then let us examine ourselves whether we are in the faith, and seek to be approved by the King.

keeping faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and suffered shipwreck in regard to their faith. Among these are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have handed over to Satan, so that they will be taught not to blaspheme.
