How to Not Yield to Temptation | Pastor Chuck Salvo
How to not Yield to Temptation
“He who covers his sins will not prosper, But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.” Proverbs 28:13 NKJV
“You have set our iniquities before You, Our secret sins in the light of Your countenance.” Psalms 90:8 NKJV
“And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one.” Matthew 6:13 NKJV
“And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one.” Matthew 6:13 NLT
A key to not yielding or being led into temptation is prayer!
Prayer is an act of humility declaring our need for His power
I can’t do it/my best isn’t good enough is being spoken when we pray and then deliverance from temptation will come
“And remember, when you are being tempted, do not say, “God is tempting me.” God is never tempted to do wrong, and he never tempts anyone else. Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away. These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death.” James 1:13-15 NLT
“I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.” Psalms 119:11 NLT
“Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.” Psalms 119:105 NLT
“Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.”1 Peter 5:8 NLT
“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,” II Corinthians 10:3-5 NKJV
When you sin repent quickly!
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” I John 1:9 NKJV
The simplicity of the gospel is to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ the complexity of the gospel is simply to just believe! This is how we overcome! To be as children!
