God’s Plan for Damaged Goods
”Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord:“ Hebrews 12:14 NKJV
Holy-set apart
I’m saved and in a straight line to holiness, no deviation from the path
Set your forehead like flint and run
Holiness is not in our ability to create it is simply the result of communion with Jesus as we become as He is Holy
”The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying: “Arise and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause you to hear My words.” Then I went down to the potter’s house, and there he was, making something at the wheel. And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter; so he made it again into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to make.“ Jeremiah 18:1-4 NKJV
Marred-damaged/blemished by injury or rough wear
Jesus takes us where we are at No latter how damaged
The potter made it again into another! Vs 4
Born again!
”Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying: “O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter?” says the Lord. “Look, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are you in My hand, O house of Israel!“ Jeremiah 18:5-6 NKJV
God takes us and creates a brand new vessel and now one that is set apart for Him
”as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.” I Peter 1:14-16 NKJV
The Potter at work! The potter is working on you for holiness
Jesus said “be perfect even as your Father is perfect
”as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” II Peter 1:3-4 NKJV
Suffering produces holiness. Hebrews 12
”For they indeed for a few days chastened us as seemed best to them, but He for our profit, that we may be partakers of His holiness.“ Hebrews 12:10 NKJV
AFTERWARD!
”Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.“ Hebrews 12:11 NKJV
The result of AFTERWARD!
”He raises the poor out of the dust, And lifts the needy out of the ash heap,“ Psalms 113:7 NKJV
