Are you Wise or Foolish?

  1. ”A wise person thinks a lot about death, while a fool thinks only about having a good time.“ Ecclesiastes‬ ‭7‬:‭4‬ ‭NLT‬‬‬‬
    1. A wise man
    2. ”So prepare your minds for action and exercise self-control. Put all your hope in the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world. So you must live as God’s obedient children. Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn’t know any better then. But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy.“ 1 Peter‬ ‭1‬:‭13‬-‭15‬ ‭NLT‬‬‬‬‬‬
      1. ”It was by faith that Noah built a large boat to save his family from the flood. He obeyed God, who warned him about things that had never happened before. By his faith Noah condemned the rest of the world, and he received the righteousness that comes by faith.“ Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭7‬ ‭NLT‬‬‬‬‬
      2. ”The voice of one crying in the wilderness: “Prepare the way of the Lord; Make straight in the desert A highway for our God.“ Isaiah‬ ‭40‬:‭3‬ ‭NKJV‬‬‬‬‬
    1. A foolish man
    2. ”Then he told them a story: “A rich man had a fertile farm that produced fine crops. He said to himself, ‘What should I do? I don’t have room for all my crops.’ Then he said, ‘I know! I’ll tear down my barns and build bigger ones. Then I’ll have room enough to store all my wheat and other goods. And I’ll sit back and say to myself, “My friend, you have enough stored away for years to come. Now take it easy! Eat, drink, and be merry!”’ “But God said to him, ‘You fool! You will die this very night. Then who will get everything you worked for?’ “Yes, a person is a fool to store up earthly wealth but not have a rich relationship with God.” Luke‬ ‭12‬:‭16‬-‭21‬ ‭NLT‬‬‬‬‬‬
      1. ”So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do. Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts. And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.“ Ephesians‬ ‭5‬:‭15‬-‭20‬ ‭NLT‬‬‬‬‬‬
  1. 5 wise and 5 foolish
    1. ”“Then the Kingdom of Heaven will be like ten bridesmaids who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. The five who were foolish didn’t take enough olive oil for their lamps, but the other five were wise enough to take along extra oil. When the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and fell asleep. “At midnight they were roused by the shout, ‘Look, the bridegroom is coming! Come out and meet him!’ “All the bridesmaids got up and prepared their lamps. Then the five foolish ones asked the others, ‘Please give us some of your oil because our lamps are going out.’ “But the others replied, ‘We don’t have enough for all of us. Go to a shop and buy some for yourselves.’ “But while they were gone to buy oil, the bridegroom came. Then those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was locked. Later, when the other five bridesmaids returned, they stood outside, calling, ‘Lord! Lord! Open the door for us!’ “But he called back, ‘Believe me, I don’t know you!’ “So you, too, must keep watch! For you do not know the day or hour of my return.“ Matthew‬ ‭25‬:‭1‬-‭13‬ ‭NLT‬‬‬‬‬
    2. Paul’s desire to leave
    3. ”For to me, living means living for Christ, and dying is even better. But if I live, I can do more fruitful work for Christ. So I really don’t know which is better. I’m torn between two desires: I long to go and be with Christ, which would be far better for me. But for your sakes, it is better that I continue to live.“ Philippians‬ ‭1‬:‭21‬-‭24‬ ‭NLT‬‬‬‬‬‬
    4. Death must simply become our graduation not something to be feared
    5. This can only be when we are so intimate and infused with our Jesus here. When we have truly disconnected from this reality and carry within our bosom the reality of Christ. Then the fear of Death will be swallowed with a living passion to be with Him. Death then becomes only a door.
